Fees & Rebates

The standard fee is $160 per session, and each session is one hour in duration. Fees are payable at the conclusion of each session, either by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card (Visa & Mastercard). Reduced fees are available for pensioners.

There is a cancellation fee of $50 when you cancel a session with less than 24 hours notice. If you simply fail to arrive for the appointment the full session fee is charged.

As of November 2006 psychology services are claimable under Medicare. Anyone who has a mental illness or mental disorder (such as depression or anxiety) can see a clinical psychologist for up to 12 individual sessions per calender year, and claim at least $117.65 back per session from Medicare. The gap you pay contributes to the Medicare Safety Net, so once you reach the safety net in a calender year, you will receive an additional rebate of 80%  of the gap per session (a total rebate of $151.50 per session).

To be able to claim any rebate, you require a GP Mental Health Care Plan (2710 form) prior to your first psychology session.  Please contact us  for more information to see if you are eligible, or speak to Medicare or your GP. The Medicare rebate can be electronically claimed immediately after your session and deposited into your bank account. If you prefer, you can be issued with a receipt to take to a Medicare office.

If you are not eligible for the Medicare rebate (for example, you may not have a mental disorder but just want some relationship counselling), your private health fund is likely to offer some rebate. Most private health funds now offer rebates for clinical psychology services if you have extras cover. Please contact your health fund to enquire how many sessions are covered per year, and if there is a dollar limit per session and/or overall.
